2016 Bathroom Trends You Need To Know About

by admin 31 May 2016
2016 Bathroom Trends We're nearly at the halfway point of the year so why not treat yourself to a brand new bathroom, or simply give your bathroom a much needed makeover for the rest of 2016 and beyond? If you want your bathroom to be on trend, here are some bathroom features and styles that the interior design world is going mad for. Check out these exciting bathroom trends in 2016.

Having a focal point

This year it's all about having a focal point. Contemporary bathrooms don't have features that seem to merge together. Instead, everything centres around one key focal point. This is a technique that’s used in fashion as well as interior design; it’s like picking a statement piece of clothing and working everything else around it. You can achieve this bathroom trend by having a freestanding bath like the Carron bath below, or a walk in shower. The key here is to have something that will catch people’s eyes as soon as they enter your bathroom. If you don’t want to buy a new shower or bath yet, a statement mirror can also do the trick. Metallics still in high demand

Metallics were popular in 2015, and the trend has continued this year. It’s amazing how a few metallic accessories can completely change the look and feel of your bathroom. Some popular metals this year include silver, gold, stainless steel, brushed nickel and oil rubbed bronze. Warm coloured metals are particularly on trend at the moment. Metals are fantastic for reflecting light and adding a touch of rustic glamour to your bathroom. Try using rich metals in fixtures, or go bolder and consider a copper bath or sink. Open shelving

Open shelving is proving very popular in bathroom design this year. If done correctly, it can look very chic, neat and stylish. It’s an ideal way to display some of your gorgeous bathroom accessories. They also help to create the illusion of more space, provided they aren’t cluttered. Keep the decor on your open shelves minimal. Roll up your fresh bath towels and display them on an open shelf and add a few accessories. Get creative and take advantage of the space that open shelves provides you with. [caption id="attachment_607" align="alignnone" width="625"]Bathroom Open Shelving Source: theoffiz.com[/caption]

Heated floors

Heated floors have been quite popular in kitchens recently, and now they are infiltrating bathrooms too. It’s such a luxurious and comforting feature to add to your bathroom. No more walking around on your tiptoes to avoid freezing bathroom floors. Step out of the shower or bath onto soothing underfloor heating.

Spa-inspired design

A lot of people will be very excited about this trend. What could be better than turning your bathroom into your very own spa? Make your bathroom feel serene and modern with some luxurious spa features such as a spa bath, spa themed accessories, mood lighting and spa inspired tiling and floors. This year the bathroom is becoming much more than a purely functional room in the house. It is transforming into a calm, tranquil and soothing area of your home to escape to...
