Calling all interior design enthusiasts! Pantone recently announced what their
colour of the year will be for 2017. Last year featured two key colour choices, Rose Quartz (a shade of light pink), and Serenity (a shade of light to medium blue - great name for a colour, don't you think?). For those that are dying to know, it’s greenery. Yes, next year, everyone is set to go mad for refreshing greens, specifically ‘greenery 15-0343’.
It’s safe to say that 2016 wasn't the best year all round, with lots of concerning things going on around the world. This is perhaps why Pantone has chosen a relaxing colour that brings hope, and connotations of a new start. Personally, we are thrilled that green is making a comeback, and can’t wait to see people’s bathrooms with lashings of luscious green!
Reconnect with nature

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of The Pantone Colour Institute commented, ‘Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment.’
Green is a wonderfully therapeutic colour and can work really well in several different rooms around your home, but it looks particularly gorgeous in bathrooms. Shades of green can help remind us of the connection that we share with the natural world.
Colour therapy

So, if you are thinking of redecorating your bathroom or ordering a brand new bathroom this year, keep in mind that not only is green very on trend, but it’s a very therapeutic colour. According to research, simply looking at the colour green can cheer us up and make us feel more at ease, because green reminds us of nature and tranquillity.
Colours that complement Greenery
As well as selecting their favourite colour for the year ahead, Pantone also highlight some other favourites, as well as some colours that you can pair this particular shade with. See what shades greenery goes well with at on the
colour of the year 2017 page.
Check out the ‘forest floor’ colour mixture they have, as these colours could work really well in your bathroom. This shade of green looks ideal with deeper shades, pastels, brights, neutrals and metallics so, as you can see, it’s quite a versatile colour to work with.
How to add splashes of green to your bathroom

You don’t have to go to the extreme by painting your bathroom walls and covering everything in green. This shade of green isn’t too garish, so it can be used in subtle ways. Add splashes of green through the use of strategically placed accessories. For example, you could go with a neutral bathroom colour theme and add a bit of colour by having green towels, mats, soap dispensers and bathroom accessories.
Expect to see this colour everywhere in 2017, from on the catwalk to trade shows and all over people's homes. Of course, you don’t have to follow the crowd, there might be lots of other colours that are better suited to your bathroom. But if you fancy a change, why not try this lovely, versatile and refreshing shade of green.
